Welcome to Serendipity Lab 👋🏼
Who doesn’t want more accidental joy in their life?!? That’s what Serendipity is:
But just because it’s accidental, doesn’t mean it can’t be cultivated.
My favorite moments in life are unplanned encounters:
bumping into a friend while out on a bike ride
meeting a stranger while I’m sipping my cafe con leche in the morning
or watching some dude in a fuzzy hat play a cover of one of my favorite songs during sunset
Call it fate, destiny, or just being in the right place at the right time, these are the moments that bring me the most joy.
I obsess over this concept because it underscores the importance of every moment.
We never know where exactly value might come from or what pieces will fit together, therefore it’s good to always be on the lookout for serendipity triggers.
It grounds us in the present moment and helps us become more self-aware.
Can we engineer serendipity?
Yes, we can, and that’s what we’ll explore in this newsletter…
"The amount of serendipity that will occur in your life, your Luck Surface Area, is directly proportional to the degree to which you do something you’re passionate about combined with the total number of people to whom this is effectively communicated." – Jason Roberts
Luck = (Passionate) Doing x (Effective) Telling.
Who am i
I’m 34 years young, still figuring out how to play the game of life.
In 2018 I quit my engineering job in the U.S. and bought a one-way ticket to Europe. It was the best decision I ever made.
I was a tour guide for a year. It taught me about social dynamics and how to entertain a crowd of people.
I was born in Budapest, grew up in Flo-Rida, and now living in Barcelona.
Traffic sucks, I moved to a city and choose to ride a bike instead. It’s way more healthy and way more fun.
Strangers are friends you haven’t met yet. Don’t be afraid to talk to people. You’re one conversation away from changing the course of your life.
Eat well & travel often.
