This is awesome Brian, so much of it resonated! I also loved the symbolism of you throwing your boots away and then in the next photo your barefoot haha. The idea of "earning why learning" makes so much sense to me as well now. I feel these days my "work" opportunities are really ways I can improve the skills I want to improve. There's something so satisfying about that. Great piece!
Hey Brian, I’d love to learn more about how you got into the online sales roles.
I used to work in experimental marketing, selling or promoting everything from organic ghee butter to Dyson vacuum cleaners to TD Bank promotions to Jeeps.
For the past seven years, I’ve had my own business as an online English teacher with a mix of cultural consultancy, but I’m hoping to diversify and get back into sales.
Glad you asked Nolan. It's a topic i've been meaning to write more about because I want to help others find remote gigs. Over the years I've been building up a library of resources and will be sharing them soon.
The first role was through a FB post and every other role came through word of mouth and people in my network but all of it led back to that first role I got through the FB post.
Have you already started looking or not yet? If not, what's been the biggest roadblock?
Yes, I started looking and learning about the online sales world, but I haven't started applying yet.
It seems there’s a lot of crossover from in-person sales. Understanding loss aversion, mirroring, tactical empathy, guiding the negotiation with open-ended questions, and all those tactics that have always come natural to me—empatia con la cabeza bien puesta. But I'm not confident with the online funnelling strategies and terms like lead magnets, webinar funnels, etc..
I don't have Facebook, but I've looked at how to get into “high ticket closing,” but there seems to be a lot of BS related to that. I also looked into We Work Remotely and some LinkedIn posts.
I'm just not sure if I should offer commission-based work first to get my foot in the door.
I can't agree more in everything you wrote. Although this knowledge is so necessary for those who are stucked in boring jobs, going into action is what really makes the difference🚀
Loved it, Brain and how candid it was! I can relate to the feeling that leaving the comfortable world of full time is not at all easy and the joy of earning one’s first dollar. Looking forward to what’s next in your journey :)

Thanks Michelle!! I'm so glad you noticed the irony between the two photos 😂
Just noticed that! So good :)
