One reason I'm hopeful for the future is that the self-described freedom caucus has no idea how heavily regulated towns, counties, and cities are. The trick is framing in a way that they see what's been taken from them via strict government rules as opposed to "here's a new rule to take your truck away."
I think you nailed it with the US obsession with efficiency. Everyone is in such a damn hurry, like weaving through traffic just to end up side-by-side at the next red light.
I was talking to an American ex-pat living in Chile years ago and he mentioned that he forgot how fast people drive in his home country. The Chileans are pretty chill, though.
Maybe we all just need to chill the fuck out over here (and by “maybe” I mean definitely).
Liked this line: "...parents will freak out if someone gives their child a peanut, meanwhile “the most dangerous threat facing American children is the drive to school, not the snacks they share.” Insanity.

Thanks for giving me something to chew on, always appreciate your insights!
This is ‘merica……don’t mess with my big cars and trucks …..and definitely don’t mess with my guns !
Unfortunately in Napoli driving is still common given how bad the infrastructure is. Not to mention babies on mopeds 🙈
